Where Is Mauritius? 800 Kms East Of Madagascar, Off The South East Coast Of Africa

Mauritius is an Island with an area of about 1,865 kms and is under the Tropics of Capricorn. The island is mostly flat and surrounded by beautiful beaches but also has mountain ranges decorating the topography of this country.

Where is Mauritius geographically? It is 800 kms from the eastern coast of Madagascar and is well connected by air from many countries.

The mountain range of Piton de la Petite Riviere Noire is the highest peak of this Island and is at 828 meters above sea level. The other mountain ranges of Mauritius are Moka, Black river, Grand port and Plaine Des Papayes which are lush green.

The average temperature of Mauritius is 30C in summer and 25C in winter which makes this Island ideal for sugarcane cultivation. With relatively dry coastal regions the climate here is moderate throughout the year making it an ideal holiday destination.

So exactly where is Mauritius? It is 200 kms to the north east of Reunion where the waters are crystal clear and the sand is white. This Island of Mauritius is famous for its calm and pristine sandy beaches. Barrier reefs surround the Island from one end to the other.

Mauritius has a multi-cultural society and you will find it very easy to blend into it. But its ethnically rich culture will mystify you.
